Scholarship Recipient Spotlight

As a recipient of a Cone Health mammography scholarship, I feel deeply grateful and extremely blessed.

I have been working temp jobs or out of work for some time - mostly out of work. I do not have health insurance and cannot afford to purchase any. In speaking with friends, I joke and say I cannot afford to get sick or to die because I don't have any health or life insurance.

This is the sad reality of today's society. The government cares more about going to the moon than providing adequate healthcare for the people.

Being out of work and having to worry about your health is a burden. Thank you for being there when I needed you most. I am grateful and happy that my mammogram came back negative. However, if the test came back positive, then for me it would be a matter of life and death.

Mammography for early detection = Life

Not having a mammogram = Death

I thank Cone Health for giving me peace of mind and for allowing me the choice of life. May God continue to bless you and yours for all your good works.
