Race Location

The race event, registration and all related activities will be based at The Women's Hospital of Greensboro at 801 Green Valley Road. To learn more about this free-standing hospital dedicated to women's healthcare, go here.

Start Times

8:15 a.m. - Girls' Only Mini Walk & Run
9:30 a.m. - Women's Only 5K Walk & Run

Starting Line Location

The starting line for the Women's Only 5K Walk & Run will be near the intersection of Green Valley Road and Lendew Avenue.

Finish Line Location / Post-Race Refreshments

The finish line is near the start line. Post-race refreshments will be available once you cross the finish line.

Race Day Activities

The Women's Expo and a Children's and Family Expo will be featured on race day. A continental breakfast buffet and will help you get ready for the race. These programs will be going on throughout the entire event, from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Don't miss Jazzercise to get you warmed up - it starts at 9 a.m. All event activities will be located at the Women's Education Center parking lot.

Parking

Park at the Moses Cone Health System Administrative Services Building, 721 Green Valley Road, located at the corner of Lendew Avenue and Green Valley Road.

Chart

NCAA guidelines are observed for Amateur status race winners, where cash prize earnings for school track team runners will be donated to the Mammography Scholarship Fund.

Elite Runners

Interested Elite runners should contact Shawn Houck at Moses Cone Health System. Complimentary entries will be offered to runners meeting a sub-17:30 5K time within the previous 12 months. If you are interested, please forward a running resume by e-mail to: womensonlyrun@mosescone.com

Travel stipends are not available. We will assist in requesting local individual and hotel sponsors and transportation in limited numbers based on order of registration entry forms received from out-of-town athletes.

Course Certification

The 5K course is USATF certified.

Three awards will be made in the following age groups:


How far is five kilometers?

5K is 3.1 miles.

Will there be mile splits?

There will be markers at each mile, and volunteers will announce the 1st and 2nd mile split times.

What do I get for my entry fee?

All pre-registered race participants will receive a race packet goodie bag, a race T-shirt, pre- and post-race refreshments, and access to the race day festivities, including the Children's and Family Expo and Women's Expo.

Results

Preliminary results will be posted at the race site immediately following the race. Official results will be available at 4 p.m. on race day at www.womensonlyrun.com.

Official Charity Cause

The Mammography Scholarship Fund of The Breast Center of Greensboro at The Women's Hospital is the sole recipient of the race proceeds. All proceeds provide free mammograms for women in Guilford County who are uninsured and ineligible for Medicare or Medicaid. In 2004, 220 women received free mammograms through this service.

Portable Restroom Locations

Restroom facilities will be conveniently located near the start and finish line and at approximately the 1.5-mile mark along the race course.

Registration Deadlines

Will there be onsite/race-day registration?

Yes, late registration is available on Friday, Oct. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. T-shirts cannot be guaranteed to participants registering late.

Printed registration brochures are available at the Women's Education Center reception desk at The Women's Hospital of Greensboro, 801 Green Valley Road, as well as in The Women's Hospital Admitting Department.

Women's Only 5K Walk & Run Ages 7 and older
Girls' Only Walk & Run (200 yards) Ages 3 and under
Girls' Only Walk & Run (400 yards) Ages 4 - 6

Refund/Transfer Policies

There are no refunds. You may not transfer your race number to another person.

Children's and Family Expo

A designated area for games and activities is being provided to add a more fun-filled morning for the entire family. Fathers, sons and younger children may participate in a variety of art, music and children's gym-style activities. Family members also may create a special race poster to cheer on mom or to honor a family member with breast cancer.

Can I walk the course?

Yes, both walkers and runners are welcome.

Can I push a stroller?

For safety reasons, no pets are allowed on the course, and walkers and runners with strollers are asked to use a designated side lane. For safety reasons, girls younger than 7 years old are not permitted on the 5K course.

Can I bring my dog?

No dogs will be allowed at the event.

Are roller blades or bikes allowed on the course?

For safety reasons we do not permit roller blades or bicycles on the course.

What is the weather cancellation policy?

It is our policy to proceed with the race unless there is active lightning or the City of Greensboro closes the course. In the event of a cancellation, the race entry fee is considered a donation to the Mammography Scholarship Fund.

Volunteer Information

If you are not participating in the event, consider being a volunteer. If you want to participate and volunteer, there are opportunities for both. It takes more than 200 volunteers to work from Oct. 2 to Oct. 4 for race preparation, at race packet pick-up, as road marshals, to pass out water or to work any of the other necessary tasks required to stage a safe and enjoyable race. No experience is required. All volunteers will receive orientation on-site and a race volunteer T-shirt. For volunteer information and registration, contact us.
